Create Japan Post shipping labels directly in the Zonos Dashboard. You can create one label at a time from a shipment's detail page, or create labels for multiple orders at once from the shipment list.
Sign your labels once: Upload a signature image under Settings → Shipping → Labels and Zonos prints it in the signature field on every label you create here, and on the commercial invoices that go with them. See Account setup.
Create a single label
Go to Dashboard → Orders.
Click the shipment you want to label.
Click Create label.
In the Create label dialog, fill in:
Fulfillment center – The sender address printed on the label. Defaults to your primary fulfillment center.
Service level – The Japan Post service level for this shipment.
Box – The dimensions and weight of the box this shipment ships in. A box is required — Japan Post labels print your real carton dimensions and weight rather than an auto-generated estimate. New custom boxes default to centimeters and grams (the units Japan Post prints); you can change the units per box. Optionally save a box to reuse it later.
Insurance – Shown when the selected service level supports it (see Insurance below).
Group – The consolidation group this shipment will be added to. Click New group to create one inline.
If undeliverable – Shown for service levels that support it. Choose what Japan Post should do if the parcel is rejected at the border: Return, Redirection, or Renounce. If you choose Return, also pick a Return method — Air or By the most economical route.
Optional: check Print packing slip to print a packing slip alongside the shipping label.
Optional: check Close consolidation group and print manifest if this is the last shipment for the group. When enabled, pick the fulfillment center the manifest will be filed against.
Click Create label.
Your browser opens a print dialog for the label (and the packing slip and manifest if you chose to print them).
Create labels in bulk
Go to Dashboard → Orders.
Check the box next to each order you want to label.
Click Create labels in the page header.
Fill in:
Fulfillment center – The sender address printed on every label in the batch.
Service level – The Japan Post service level for these shipments.
Insurance – When the service level supports insurance, check Insure each shipment for its full item value to insure every shipment in the batch up to the service maximum. Leave it off to apply only the included free coverage. To insure a single shipment for a custom amount, create that label from its individual order instead.
Group – The consolidation group all labels will be added to. Click Create new group to create one inline.
If undeliverable – Shown for service levels that support it. Choose Return, Redirection, or Renounce. If you choose Return, also pick a Return method (Air or By the most economical route).
Click Create labels.
All successful shipments are added to the chosen consolidation group. After the batch finishes, you'll be prompted to either keep adding to the group or close and print the manifest.
Insurance
Japan Post insurance (損害要償額, declared value) is available on the service levels that support it. When you pick a service level, the Create label dialog shows the matching insurance option:
EMS – Optional. EMS includes free indemnity up to ¥20,000. To insure beyond that, enter the full contents value, up to ¥2,000,000 or the shipment's item total (whichever is lower).
Parcel – Optional toggle. Turn on Insure this shipment and enter an insured value, up to ¥688,363 or the shipment's item total (whichever is lower).
Other service levels (letters, printed matter, small packet, ePacket) – No insurance is available, and none is sent.
Insured values are entered in Japanese yen as whole numbers. In a batch, insurance is all-or-nothing — see Insure each shipment for its full item value above.
If undeliverable
Some Japan Post service levels (such as Parcel) ask what should happen if the parcel is rejected at the U.S. border. Choose one in the Create label dialog:
Return – Sent back to you. Pick a Return method: Air or By the most economical route.
Redirection – Forwarded to a different address.
Renounce – Abandoned at destination; not returned.
Service levels that don't support this option won't show it.
Manage a label after it's created
Open the shipment from Dashboard → Orders. On the fulfilled shipment row:
Click Print label to open the print dialog for the label.
Click the three-dot menu next to it to:
Download label – Save the label PDF to your computer.
Void label – Cancel the label. The shipment is removed from its consolidation group automatically.
Void a label before handing the parcel to Japan Post. After the manifest is closed, the label is final.
Verify what reached the carrier
After a label is created, the shipment detail page surfaces what Zonos sent to Japan Post so you can confirm it before the parcel ships. For each active label you'll see:
Declared value (insurance) – The insured value sent for the shipment, in Japanese yen, or Not set when the shipment is uninsured.
Applied rules – Any automation rules that were applied to the shipment, or None.
